Description
The 2008 City HR annual conference was a ‘must attend’ event, with an exciting line-up of speakers, a more interactive format and also included the launch of the ‘hot off the press’ best practice guide to Diversity.
The conference addressed the role of HR in supporting our businesses and explored issues such as Mergers and Acquisitions (Prof Scott Moeller, Cass Business School) and the challenges for HR in 2009/10 including Reward Management.
The conference was highly interactive including panel discussions and an opportunity to listen to, and debate issues that are relevant to HR professionals.
Top HR professionals presented on issues that have affected City organisations during the last twelve months together with how the profession had responded to these issues alongside the challenges ahead for 2009 and beyond.
The afternoon sessions explored how HR makes a difference to the social framework, through inclusiveness, diversity and corporate responsibility. Janet Gaymer, QC, CBE Commissioner, Public Appointments Office (Cass Business School) delivered a presentation around embracing ‘difference’ as part of the HR strategy, followed by Loraine Martins (Head of Equality and Inclusion, Olympic Delivery Authority) who spoke on delivering equality and inclusion in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games.
Break-out sessions were delivered in both the morning and the afternoon where delegates could choose which topics were most relevant for them to attend. In the morning Jan Hills facilitated a discussion about HR Business Partnering, whilst Robin Hames of Bluefin, examined elements of reward which enhance employee engagement and retention, particularly during difficult marketing conditions. The afternoon break-out sessions included enacted case studies surrounding cross culture intelligence by Steps Drama Learning Development.
The fantastic feedback received from delegates was testimony to the immense contribution and hard work of our speakers, and the support of our sponsors.
