Retaining Talent after the Bonus Round

Event Type
Breakfast symposium

Topic
Employee Retention, Reward and Risk

Venue Address
1 Tower Place West Tower Place London EC3R 5BU

Description
Whilst not a new subject in The City, the downturn, changes in the market and forthcoming tax regulation, have created a "wait and see" attitude with many top performers. The competitive threat is high. Whether it is choosing another firm that can offer a better short and long term incentive plan; or perhaps choosing another country that can offer a more favourable tax rate; or even choosing a lifestyle change and making a career move, keeping top talent in 2010 is going to require some new thinking.

Mercer will lead an interactive workshop that focuses on three key areas that City organisations should look at to keep their best performers after this pay round:.

WHO ARE KEY TALENTS? Facilitated by Sue Filmer, Principal .

Who are they - top performers, high potentials, critical skills or key individuals?.

How do we identify and segment them into a talent landscape that is aligned to today's talent environment?.

How can we more effectively manage and track them?.

What should we be doing now about the high flight risks?.

Case study - Financial services organisation talent map .

HOW DO WE REWARD THEM? Facilitated by Hannah Perera, Principal .

How should use our bonus pool to keep key talent?.

How can we ensure a long-tem focus for reward, e.g. deferred bonuses, longer terms incentives and clawbacks?.

How do we factor risk into our KPIs?.

Practitioner insight - Ian Davidson's risk model.

HOW DO WE COMMUNICATE WITH THEM? Facilitated by Trevor Rutter, Principal .

What are the key messages?.

How often to talk and in what format?.

How transparent should we be?.

How do messages differ for key talent and the rest of the workforce? .

This event will combine subject matter experts, practitioner insights, case studies and working groups to create a thought provoking session, and hopefully some valuable take aways that will help you identify and retain your top talent.
